Norfolk vegetable gatherer
A special range of baskets individually handmade by Adrian and Ruth Charlton using willows from beds in both Somerset and France. Their new workshops and studios are at Saint Pardoux La Riviere, Dordogne.
Their baskets are highly original and beautiful in texture and design.
Because these items are individually made colours and sizes may vary slightly and supplies may fluctuate.
Adrian Charlton has been making baskets since 1985 after seeing a basket maker at a market in North Norfolk. He studied traditional English basketmaking skills as Master Basket Maker Terry Bensley apprentice and has since studied and expanded these techniques to include French and Spanish styles. In 2000 he and his partner Ruth Kidd, who studied basket making under Adrian, formed the Norfolk Basket Company.
We recommend that you leave your willow baskets outside in the rain once or twice a year to tighten them up. You can also just wet them and scrub with a washing up brush for a good clean up and leave outside in the wind to dry.
