Caf√© Manager - Design Museum Café

A great opportunity has arisen for an experienced and talented Café Manager, with drive, enthusiasm, and a proven track record of managing a team, to deliver fantastic service in our stunning Design Museum Café.

As the Manager of our popular Design Museum Café, you will be passionate about providing simple, high-quality food alongside the high standards of customer service David Mellor Design is renowned for. Serving light lunches, delicious cakes, excellent coffee, specialist teas and a mix of soft and alcoholic drinks, the Café has a reputation for excellence and a warm welcome.

As the Café Manager you will be responsible for ensuring the service runs smoothly as well as managing and motivating a team of floor and kitchen staff. The role will be a very hands-on floor based position so a confident and outgoing personality is essential.

This is a key role and the successful candidate should have demonstrated experience in a similar role and a skilled communicator with excellent problem solving, observation, interpersonal, organisational and time management skills.

The Caf√© is open 10am ‚Äď 5.00pm, seven days a week, all year round, with occasional special evening events.

A unique and exciting role within a beautiful working environment based at our Visitors Centre in Hathersage, just outside Sheffield, within the Peak District National Park.

Full Time Assistant Manager - Marylebone

Background

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Assistant Manager or Supervisor to join a prestigious and iconic company.

Our David Mellor shop in Sloane Square opened in 1969 and soon became a focal point of London shopping scene and an important influence on retail design. Our new Marylebone shop is an exciting new venture to capitalise on the company’s renown for quality and design, expanding our customer demographic as well as increasing our presence on the London retail scene.

Our shops specialise in tableware and kitchenware carefully selected as the best on the international market in terms of design and quality, as well as selling our world renowned cutlery alongside traditional British craft items. Many of our products are of our own design and exclusive to the David Mellor shops.

The company was established in the 1950’s by David Mellor, Royal Designer for Industry. Mellor is a key figure in British design with an international reputation as designer, manufacturer and shopkeeper.

Skills & Experience Required

We are seeking a committed, enthusiastic individual to join our small, friendly team as an Assistant Manager. This role is primarily based in our new Marylebone store but will also provide cover at our Sloane Square store when required.

The primary role of the Assistant Manager is to provide support for the Manager, deputising in their absence to ensure the smooth running of the shop floor on a day to day basis. You will be expected to quickly acquire expert knowledge of our brand and products as well as maintaining visual merchandising standards and appropriate stock levels, leading and motivating team members, assisting with the daily store operations and providing the very highest level of customer service.

The ideal candidate should have a strong commercial mindset with experience in high-end retail, preferably in a supervisory or managerial role.

An interest in design and aesthetics is advantageous.

Hours

40 hours per week, on a 5 day rota basis (inc. 1 weekend day)

The ideal candidates must have excellent communication skills, a commitment to providing quality service and demonstrated experience in retail sales. An interest in cookery, design and aesthetics is advantageous.

Hours

Full time 40 hours per week, on a 5 day rota basis.

Part-time 16-24 hours per week (2 or 3 days per week)
