In 1830, in a Normandy village called Villedieu-les-Poêles, which is located near the Mont-Saint-Michel, Mr. Ernest Mauviel established the Mauviel manufacturing company. Villedieu-les-Poêles, “the city of copper”, has an 800 year heritage of copper manufacturing. The strength and foundation for Mauviel's manufacturing expertise is based upon this rich tradition of copper manufacturing that has been handed down from generation to generation. Since the very early years, by offering the highest quality products, Mauviel has been a fixture in the professional and commercial markets. Throughout the world Mauviel products are used by many famous chefs and professionals. With 1,000 products, Mauviel offers several ranges of high quality products made from copper, stainless steel or aluminium. Each range is crafted with elegant style and is designed to meet the needs of the most discerning professional and household cooks.

Advice for use:

  • Do not overheat the pan - Copper is a good heat conductor, do not use the maximum heat setting on your stove. Anything over 2/3 heat could damage your pan, resulting in deformation of the pan bottom. It could also result in a blue, yellow coloration, which is a sign of overheating.

Advice on maintenance:

  • For daily cleaning use lukewarm soapy water and clean with the rough side of the sponge.
  • Do not use dishwasher - The cleansing products used in these appliances could damage the copper. Copper pans are not compatible with the dishwasher.

To bring back the shine to copper:

  • Use a sponge and soak with Copperbrill, a special product for copper, then scrub the pan, rinse with water and dry with a clean cloth.
  • Other methods are available:
    • Mix bicarbonate of soda with lemon juice, soak a cloth, and then scrub. Rinse out with warm water, then dry the utensil with a clean cloth. You can add some flour to this mixture.
    • Use a scrubbing stone or a clay stone, then rinse with water and dry with a dry cloth.
    • Mix white vinegar, flour and a pinch of salt, then soak a cloth with this mix. Scrub the utensil delicately. Rinse with lukewarm water, and dry with a clean cloth.
  • If the copper is oxidized it can be cleaned by soaking the pan in Coca Cola. After soaking, scrub the pan with an impregnated cloth. Rinse with warm water and dry with a clean cloth.
