Another Country stoneware
A really exciting new tableware design by Ian McIntyre. The range combines white stoneware with unglazed terracotta in highly original simple purist forms. The clay shapes are pressed and then fettled, dipped in glaze, fired and polished.
The white stoneware is fully glazed while terracotta pieces are unglazed outside and glazed inside. Very high firing gives the terracotta its beautiful scorched earth appearance. Inspired by the Series One furniture collection, this set of handmade tabletop pottery employs different clay bodies with different properties for each vessel and use. The jug and platter are made of Terracotta which has been fired to an unconventionally high temperature that vitrifies the body of the clay giving it the strength of stoneware and achieving the scorched colour. The pinch pot is black stoneware whilst the creamer, bowl, cup and plates are creamy stoneware.
The clay shapes are pressed and then fettled, dipped in glaze, fired and polished. The bowl, cup and plates are fully glazed whilst the outside of the pitcher, creamer, platter and pinch pot are left unglazed.
