	David Mellor Sterling Silver Cutlery David Mellor was born in Sheffield, for centuries a centre for metalworking skills. His training as a silversmith gave him a particular affinity for metalwork design and his silver is in many international collections. Two of his finest cutlery designs - 'Pride' and 'English' - are available in solid sterling silver to special order. They are expertly handmade in our own workshops in Hathersage. Enlarge	Pride Sterling Silver Mellor's now classic 'Pride' cutlery was designed in 1953, when he was still a student at the Royal College of Art. This supremely elegant cutlery, included in the first of the Design Centre Awards in 1957, has been in production ever since. It is on display in numerous museums worldwide as a prime example of 20th Century modernist design. This deceptively simple design has great sophistication and subtlety, drawing on David Mellor's long appreciation of the qualities of early Georgian silver to arrive at cutlery of beautiful modernity.
